Following the change of ownership in the Nashville Soul ABA professional basketball team and a brief hiatus in its schedule, the team will resume its schedule and beginning playing games in both home and away this month. “We had quite a few obstacles to overcome with the mid-season change of ownership,” stated Paul Allsup, new team owner. “We had to get the proper marketing out for this great team and we want to show the fans what is coming in the near future. Indianapolis, IN. Tim, Hicks, owner of the ABA Indianapolis Drive professional basketball team, has been named Midwest Director of the WABA, the ABA’s women’s league, scheduled to begin its initial season in January on a limited basis.
Working closely with Tammy Bagby, WABA Director, and Ron Hicks, owner of the Chicago Lady Steam, the plans call for a round robin tournament in mid-January in Indianapolis, featuring teams from Chicago, Cleveland OH, Indianapolis and other midwest cities. Jacksonville. FL. The Jacksonville Giants kicked off the 2011-12 season with a Tip-Off luncheon at the City Hall Pub in Jacksonville on Friday. Otis Smith, President of Basketball Operations for the NBA Orlando Magic, and previously the Magic GM was the guest speaker. Smith spoke about the efforts of the Giants and the impact the team has had on the city. “You have the opportunity to grow, you have the opportunity to go very, very far.” As for the NBA lockout, and the possibility of an NBA team in Jacksonville, Smith commented, “Who knows what is going to happen with the NBA, there is a crack in the window with some great opportunities, so please keep doing what you are doing.”

Partial owner Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter officially announced that his NBA team, currently known as the New Jersey Nets, will be renaming itself the “Brooklyn Nets,” to coincide with their relocation to the second most populated NYC borough for the 2012-13 NBA season.

Triad, N.C. — Carolina Cheetahs is pleased to announce the hiring of Tim Wells as the new head basketball coach. Tim was employed last season as Head Coach at KK Triland, a professional basketball team in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Wells led the Triland team to an undefeated regular season record (10-0).
