ABA AND VSSN TO HELP END AND PREVENT HOMELESSNESS AMONGST VETERANS

Indianapolis, IN.  The American Basketball Association (ABA) www.abalive.com has teamed up with Veterans Supplemental Support Network (VSSN), an affiliate  of Transitions 2 Success) to help end and prevent homelessness amongst America’s Heroes with the Warrior Basketball Tour.  These are a series of sponsored and organized exhibition games scheduled to hit the court starting in October 2012.  The games will feature ABA All Star teams vs. military teams with the 100% commitment of raising dollars to support VSSN’s Warrior Stay Program.  The Warrior Stay Program helps underwrite the costs of extended hotel stays (6 weeks to 6 months) for that service member who is ending service or any veterans and their family who have met a hardship. -> Read more

ABA ANNOUNCES LETTER OF INTENT TO ACQUIRE IEAH SALES CORP

Indianapolis, IN.  The American Basketball Association, Inc. (ABA)  (www.abalive.com)  today announced that it has entered into a Letter of Intent to acquire IEAH Sales Corp., a subsidiary of IEAH Stables, Inc. which has been created to segregate its pinhooking division.  IEAH Stables (IEAH) is engaged in all facets of thoroughbred racing with a proven track record of success.  IEAH purchased managing ownership of Big Brown in September of 2007, following the colt’s maiden victory.  Big Brown would then go on to win the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Florida Derby and Haskell Invitational.  Following the Kentucky Derby, IEAH consummated a sale of Big Brown’s breeding rights to the prestigious Three Chimney’s farm at a valuation of more than 15 times his purchase price. Big Brown now commands a $35,000 stud fee and is poised to be one of the top thoroughbred stallions in both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. -> Read more

ABA COACH PUBLISHES BOOK ON LEADERSHIP

Jacksonville, FL.  It’s not every day that an ABA coach has a book published – particularly an inspiring written piece that focuses on leadership and the value of winning as a team.  Donte Hill, Asst. Coach of the 2012 ABA National Champions Jacksonville Giants and CEO of King of the Court Leadership International, has taken his basketball and corporate experiences to a national audience through his recently-published book, “Contagious Leadership: 13 Principles to Spreading a Winning Culture.”  Hill explained that his book was developed to inspire and motivate people from “any arena” to become leaders and achieve goals. -> Read more

WABA INDY FINEST TO MEET CHICAGO LADY STEAM IN BENEFIT GAME

Indianapolis, IN.  Continuing the special season introducing the Women’s American Basketball Association (WABA)www.abalive.com, the Indy Drive will meet the Chicago Lady Steam this Saturday, May 5th in a Special Benefit Game for the Heather Norris Memorial Scholarship Fund at Petry Meridian HIgh School in Indianapolis (www.heathersvoice.net).  Recently,Indiana Gov. Mitrch Daniels signed the “Heather’s Law” bill to fight dating violence in schools.  Heather Norris was brutally murdered in 2007. Proceeds from the game will go to the fund and there will be a special ceremony to honor Heather. “The WABA has made it its mission to do good and to support worthy causes,” stated Tim Hicks, Director of the WABA.  “This cause hits very close to home and we’re proud to be able to help spread the word about Heather’s Law. And fans will also see some good basketball too.

GAINESVILLE HEAT ADDED TO ABA’S SOUTHEAST DIVISION

Indianapolis, IN.  The American Basketball Association (ABA) www.abalive.com today announced that it will add another team to its fast growing Southeast Division with a team in Gainesville, Georgia.  “Joshua Randolph is a local Gainesville business owner who graduated from Gainesville High School where he played varsity basketball,” stated Joe Newman, ABA CEO.  “His passion for the game runs deep having coached both at the AAU level and AAU level in the State of Georgia and is currently a pro hoops writer for the NBA.”

“I am very thankful for this opportunity to do something exciting for the Gainesville community and the State of Georgia,” added Randolph.  “The ABA will not be disappointed in our service to the community and our commitment to professionalism.  We are ready to roll.”

LONG BEACH ROCKETS SCHEDULE FIRST TRYOUT CAMP

Long Beach, CA.  Tryouts for the new ABA expansion Long Beach (CA) Rockets will be held on July 8th and July 15th from 4-6pm at the Long Beach City College Men’s Basketball gymnasium.

The fee is $75 per player, payment is due 14 days prior to the tryout, $100 on the day of the tryout.

MEMPHIS REIGN SCHEDULES PRO AM DRILLZ & SKILLZ CAMP

Memphis, TN.  The ABA Memphis Bluff City Reign will be hosting a ProAm Drillz & Skillz Camp for free agent players and college completers on May 18-19, 2012 at their new training facility, Early Groves Chuirch, 557 Lester Street, Memphis TN.

“We will feature former University of Memphis Tigers stars and former pros as trainers,” said Reggi Golden, team owner.  “Among them will be Cedric Henderson, Rodnew Newsome, Rodney Douglas and others.”
